The Knicks' preseason begins tonight against Philadelphia as they look to carry last season's postseason momentum into the new campaign. Karl-Anthony Towns arrives as a central focus, appearing in a lighter frame without a long-term contract extension and holding a player option, opening questions about his future. Coach Mike Brown plans to build on what worked while testing new approaches, particularly with Towns taking on a more creative role from the high post. Jalen Brunson returns after recovering from hand surgery following the Finals, where he produced at a high level despite the injury. The preseason will provide extended opportunities for reserve players like Tyler Kolek, Kevin McCullar Jr., and Mohamed Diawara, along with two veteran centers—James Wiseman and Drew Eubanks—competing for the backup position, per SNY.
