Mike Brown blamed defensive execution rather than system after the Knicks' loss to Philadelphia, saying the team failed to challenge the 76ers at the rim and allowed easy scoring opportunities throughout the roster. The coach was also critical of shot selection, noting the Knicks launched 41 three-pointers with only eight fitting the team's standards, per Posting and Toasting. Off the court, leadership faced questions about extending Leon Rose and William Wesley following the franchise's first championship in 53 years. Contract discussions with Karl-Anthony Towns also drew scrutiny, with concerns that the team's offer didn't adequately respect his contributions to the title. The Knicks host Washington on Thursday as they work through both preseason process and roster decisions.
