Knicks announce they won’t negotiate contract extensions until ‘later in season’The New York Knicks will not be discussing contract extensions with eligible players for the foreseeable future, per a Knicks spokesperson. “As an organization, our entire focus is on preparing for the upcoming season and delivering another year for our fans to be proud of,” the team’s statement read. This statement comes just days after Karl-Anthony Towns told reporters that he doesn’t expect an extension to get done before the season and has been frustrated with how far apart the two sides have been in negotiations. u/theomegachrist · 13hYeah I feel like a lot of fans are in denial. You can still be a professional and have this affect your play. The idea of taking a pay cut because of the salary rules is the reverse of what it has been for years. I saw one fan saying it's good the Knicks are negotiating down with Towns. I mean think about any other job. You just hit the absolute pinnacle of your profession and your job is like if you want to stay at the company we're going to need you to take a 20% pay cut. I think it's pretty normal to be affected by that
