u/JA_MD_311 · 15hThis all sucks but that's life in the second apron era. Nuggets got broken up, then the Celitcs, now it's the Knicks. Players agreed to this system and now they're (literally) paying for it. It promotes parity so there's reasons for it but it sucks with your team. KAT is definitely allowed to seek as much money as possible, there's just reasons for the Knicks to try and pay him as little as he will take.

u/mbn8807 · 11hI also don’t think people realize exactly how much luxury tax teams like the Golden State Warriors were paying during their Dynasty. If it was just financial you can justify it but the restrictions make it impossible to compete.

u/lemmem924 · 14hHe’s going to have to swallow the fact of getting his max money means he will most likely be in Memphis/Brooklyn or another bottom barrel team. Be interesting to see how pride factors into his decision.

u/beazypete · 11hTbh the biggest victims of the 2nd Apron has been the Wolves. The only reason KAT is even a Knicks is because of that. Maybe they don’t make the Gobert trade 2 years prior to the new CBA if this 2nd Apron tomfoolery wasn’t in the pipeline.

u/GoldenBoyRecords · 14hThe Nuggets still have their core together (Murray, Gordon, and Jokic) and Boston blew things up when Tatum got his injury. Both teams have dipped into the 2nd apron. The issue is being in the 2nd apron multiple years in a row.
